The Marin Convention & Visitor’s Bureau needed a way to provide reliable access to travel information across areas with limited cell service. We developed an offline-first mobile app that stores key content directly on users’ devices, enabling seamless trip planning and exploration across Marin County.

Limited Connectivity

Parts of Marin County have poor cell service, so the app needed to function reliably in low-connectivity areas.

Offline Saving

Users should be able to save locations—such as hotels, restaurants, and attractions—for offline access.

Trip Planning

The goal was to help users better plan and organize their trips, even without an internet connection.

We designed the app with robust offline functionality, storing saved locations, maps, and searchable data directly on users’ devices. This approach ensures the experience remains smooth and reliable across Marin County, giving visitors uninterrupted access to essential travel information wherever they explore.

We also introduced a Save for Offline feature and enabled offline search, allowing users to bookmark hotels, restaurants, and attractions with key details and imagery. This intuitive design supports organized trip planning and confident navigation, whether users are connected or exploring remote areas.
